Join PCA
Membership is an important, affordable investment in your profession and career.
What are the benefits?
Membership of the PCA gives you access to the following celebrancy resources to help you with your business:
- listing of your contact details in the PCA's online celebrant directory, which is available for viewing by members of the public
- inclusion in the ceremony alert system promoting ceremony enquiries to members
- celebrant e-groups supporting information exchange between members
- emergency telephone hotline for urgent enquiries
- celebrant helpline for non-urgent enquiries
- bi-monthly networking and development gatherings held in various locations including north, south, east and west Brisbane, the Gold and Sunshine Coasts (speaker notes placed on this website in the members-only section for the benefit of all unable to attend)
- bi-monthly, 10-page newsletter (six per year)
- celebrant mentor scheme
- certification program enabling participating celebrants to apply to use the post nominals, CPC. For example, in the case of a registered civil marriage celebrant: Chris Smith CMC CPC; or in the case of a general celebrant: Chris Smith CPC.
Who can join the PCA Inc?
Applications are welcome from:
- registered marriage celebrants and general celebrants (Ordinary Membership)
- students of celebrancy (Ordinary membership)
What is required of members?
All members are required to:
- observe and adhere to and abide by the association's Code of Professional and Ethical Conduct.
- participate in the association's continuing professional development program
- undertake not to breach conflict of interest requirements in either practice or advertising
- remain financial to gain the full benefits of membership and continue to access information and resources
What does it cost?
There is a one-off application fee of $25 which is non-refundable.
Annual membership (1 July to 30 June) of the PCA costs just $75.
When applying to join the PCA, please include both the application fee and membership fee with your application form.
Note: pro-rata membership of $40 (plus application fee of $25) applies to anyone joining between 1 January and 30 April. Please contact the Secretary for details.
How do I apply to join?
- Open, complete, print and sign the Membership Application form,
- Attach a certified copy (or copies) of relevant celebrancy qualification statements (if applicable) or a detailed written statement about your skills and experience,
- Send the form and attachment/s with your payment (see the payment options on the form) to the address on the form.
When would an application for membership be rejected?
The Professional Celebrants Association Inc is committed to maintaining the highest standards of both conduct and practice. Each application is therefore carefully considered on its merits.
However, there are circumstances in which the association feels it would be inappropriate to accept an application. Such grounds include:
- Celebrants who are waiting for registration as a civil marriage celebrant (CMC) arranging advertising in breach of the specific directive of the Attorney General's Department - that no advertising arrangement may be entered into until official notification of appointment is received. This includes localised advertising in the printed copy of the Yellow Pages, advertising for which may close in particiular areas of Australia months ahead of the annual September appointments by the Attorney-General's Department.
